Grandma Time

Chris' mom came out from Wisconson to see her grandson. She arrived the 9th and had to leave the 16th of August. She enjoyed him from the very beginning. She was in the door for about two minutes and already demanded to hold him...from there, we could barely pry him from her grasp.

Jodie was a big help. She stayed up with Malachi a couple of nights, which allowed us to get some uninterrupted sleep. She even took him for a whole day so we could get out and go hiking without having to worry about when the next diaper or feeding needed to happen. She also got Malachi a swing, which has been the best thing since sliced bread. He spends a lot of time in it (mostly because it helps put him to sleep).

Also while Jodie was here, Malachi had his baby dedication at Rocky Mountain Calvary on Saturday night the 9th. We took him on stage, gave him to Pastor Eric and he and the congregation prayed over Malachi. It went very well. Both grandma's were present which made the experience even better.

It was great to have Chris' mom come out, even for a week. The week went way too fast!

Oh, Missy

So as you all know we had our cat, Missy, de-clawed a week ago. When we got home she hid downstairs for two days while she recovered. Of course I checked on her every few hours to make sure she was doing ok. Day three: at home, she finally came out of hiding. We had the screen door open so she ventured outside. She just sat outside watching her surroundings. I noticed she didn’t really seem like herself. She was a lot calmer, not playful and crazy as she use to be. Chris liked the change and hoped she would stay that way. I on the other hand wasn’t happy with the change and wanted my Missy back; the Missy that chased me around the house and attacked my feet under the blanket.

Yesterday she came back to me. She was back to her old self, chasing me around the house, attacking my feet, chasing bugs outside; back to the old playful Missy. Chris found her favorite toy yesterday too (the orange and purple ball in the pictures). She hasn’t stop playing with it either. Her favorite thing to do is to try and put it in the water dish and then try to get it back out. I thought cats didn’t like water and here my cat is playing in it. There is one sad thing though. When she chases you up the stairs she always stopped at her scratching post and then raced you up the stairs. Last night she made her usual stop at the scratching post, but just slide down. It was sad to see her just sitting there staring at her post as if to wonder why she wasn’t catching on. It didn’t faze her too long though because she jumped on the stairs and raced me to the top, only to attack my hand when I got there.

There are two new changes with Missy and both I can live with. One, Chris is paying more attention to her, petting and playing with her (now that her claws are gone he isn’t afraid of her anymore). Two, she loves to cuddle. At night as soon as I turn off the light she curls up under my chin. She is a lot more affectionate and I love it. Missy is doing great with Malachi also. When he cries she sits and stares, when we lay him on the floor she watches over him. She makes a better guard dog than our dogs do. I’m so happy to have my Missy back!!

Trip to the Denver Zoo

Monday July 28th we had to make a trip to Denver to drop Missy off to be de-clawed. Half way there Malachi let us know he was hungry, so we pulled off the highway and found a side road to feed and change him. It was a good test run for our upcoming road trip to Wyoming and Montana. Since we needed to stay in Denver over night Chris and I decided to check out the Denver Zoo. Malachi slept most of the time but we enjoyed ourselves. Here are a few pics from our first outing with Malachi.

He's tiny!!
Chris liked his butt.

More pics from Grandma's party

These are pictures that Grandma took at her party on July 26th. Malachi was two weeks old and the family loved him. Grandma is better with the camera then we are, but she has had a lot of practice. There is a picture of Malachi's five month old cousin Niki, there isn't one of his cousin Lily who is a year and half old now. My Mom's boyfriend Dave sings Karaoke and had it set up so everyone could enjoy it. Well as you will see my brothers and a neighbor attempt to sing and you can see the crowds reaction. I wish we had a video camera to capture the moment, it was pretty funny. All in all we all had a great time and the family enjoyed seeing the new addition to the family. Are there enough pictures now Uncle Mike?
Great grandma Cousin Niki Grandma loves to hold me.Uncle JP Great Grandpa Dad likes to play with my hair

I think they were trying to sing "I feel like a woman"

But the crowd wasn't sure what they were hearing or if they wanted to here it.
